Organization & Role

Teradyne is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Thermal-Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team of engineering professionals. You will be responsible for leading and executing thermal/mechanical engineering projects, ensuring the development and optimization of innovative solutions for our cutting-edge products and systems.

Responsibilities

+ + Evaluate electronics thermal requirements using classical heat transfer methods and CAD/FEA tools

  • Collaborate with team to conceptualize and recommend appropriate cooling solutions

  • Design, source, and vet technical solutions using high-technology air and liquid cooling methods

  • Create and execute lab thermal tests to verify cooling designs and ensure successful integration into the product

  • May work with cold plates, liquid piping, cooling and pumping systems as well as sheet metal and machined part design

  • May design, build, and validate mockups and test apparatus for the evaluation of air and liquid-cooled printed circuit boards

Basic Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in thermal/mechanical engineering, preferably in the semiconductor or electronics industry.

  • Strong knowledge of thermal management principles, including heat transfer, non-compressible fluid dynamics, and thermal hardware design.

  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and analyzing complex systems and components.

  • Self-starter, able to work independently or on a team

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Comfortable working with basic shop tools and prototypes

  • Proficiency in utilizing engineering software tools for thermal and mechanical simulations, such as ANSYS, SolidWorks, or similar.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
