Organization & Role

The Senior Project Manager exercises overall accountability and oversight for medium to large business and hybrid (business and technology) projects, ensuring the successful and timely implementation of solutions that meet or exceed business expectations. Under this role, the Senior Project Manager manages the relationship and communication with the project sponsor, senior management, and a wide range of project stakeholders, including external vendor, helping them identify key barriers to project success while proactively managing all risk mitigation activities, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality product, on-time and on-budget.

Responsibilities

Overall Project Management:

  • Drives consistent and efficient execution of projects up to $1.0M in overall budget, by working closely with internal business partners and stakeholders to drive the adoption and implementation of company standards in processes and programs.

  • Serves as liaison between technical and non-technical teams, both for the organization’s internal departments as well as vendor/subcontractor organizations, to ensure that the project requirements, deliverables, and milestones are clearly specified and met throughout the project.

  • Coordinates activities and tasks among project team members, other internal departments and vendor/subcontractor organizations as needed to meet project goals, ensuring that their completion is on schedule, within budget constraints, and of the appropriate quality standards expected by the organization.

  • Ensures that the project is delivered according to the measures of success defined by the business owner.

Budget, Schedule and Resource Management:

  • Develops the project schedule to complete deliverables, ascertain critical paths, identify risks, and appropriate mitigation plans.

  • Drafts and manages project budgets, including monitoring costs, payment to vendors, and preparation of financial status reports; provides reporting progress to ensure projects are within budget, and anticipates and monitors for issues communicating promptly with the IT PMO direction and project sponsors.

  • Establish corrective action for risks and obstacles with assistance from more senior project managers.

  • Works in collaboration with the project team to seek input and validation from key project stakeholders on business and technical requirements to ensure scope, deliverables and timelines for execution are well understood, clearly documented and actionable.

    Communication Management:

  • Creates clear and concise communication mechanisms to distribute and secure understanding of project plans, project status and issues with all stakeholders (including executive management and project team), in the frequency and level of detail stated by the project governance process.

  • Comprehends and communicates roles and responsibilities (and expectations) with subject matter experts (SMEs) and key business and technical heads, continuously managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle and escalating to the appropriate parties when needed.

    Compliance with PM Methodology and IT PMO Standards:

  • Monitors and controls inputs and documentation which includes project (business, technical) requirements documents, project metrics, project schedule, risk management plans, resource plan, etc.

  • Manages process compliance and provides input to incremental process improvements with the use of lessons learned and other project process tools.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications & Skills

Experience

  • 6+ years demonstrated proficiency and hands-on experience in project management from inception to delivery, including all elements of scope, schedule, budget, risk evaluation, issue resolution, quality, integration, staffing, and communications.

  • Advanced SDLC lifecycle experience across waterfall, Agile and hybrid methodologies.

  • Advanced rational capabilities (data examination and problem solving) as well as presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated use of project management practices and tools, including but not limited to 0365 tools, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Teams, etc.

Education

  • BS/BA degree in Business or Technology-related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Project Management certification or equivalent (required).

  • Agile project management certification or equivalent (preferred).
