Opportunity Overview
Teradyne is looking for an experienced Hardware Product Design Manager with a strong focus digital board design, and product delivery for digital test instruments. In this role, you will lead a digital instrument circuit design team, working cross functionally with mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineering to design high quality, state of the art test and measurement instruments. In this role, you will lead a group of engineers in the development of next generation test and measurement equipment. You will develop products as well as further the engineering innovation, processes, and methods within the Semiconductor Test Division.
Lead a team of board design hardware product engineers
Plan and execute the hardware development portion of digital instrument projects, from concept through production release (developing plans, schedules, and staffing assignments)
Provide technical expertise in all aspects of the hardware design process by actively participating in, mentoring others in, and guiding project teams through design reviews, specification reviews, simulation reviews, verification and test plans, vendor selections, and other technical process steps
Participate in the definition of the strategic direction of the digital hardware department
Ensure that products are meeting requirements and are delivered on schedule
Ensure that product development teams follow established processes as well as champion the advancement of new processed and methods
Participate in multi-functional teams to develop architectures, systems designs, and specifications for products in the roadmap
Maintain a collaborative multi-functional working environment with the product management office, manufacturing and new product introduction, and other engineering disciplines such as software, mechanical, and systems engineering
Hire, mentor, and retain engineering staff

MSEE preferred/BSEE required
5+ years of experience as a functional manager and project leader for the development of digital instrument products
10+ years of demonstrated ability in hands-on circuit design and development
Consistent track record of delivering complex designs to manufacturing and product availability, with end-to-end development cycle ownership
Demonstrated experience in the development of board level (PCB) based products involving disciplines as PCB CAD, mechanical engineering, connectors and cables, system level calibration, and software development Experience in technical guidance of vendors and contractors in addition to permanent staff
Strong project management skills
Strong understanding of state-of-the-art technologies and practices for designing circuits
Strong people and team management skills, with direct experience in functional management of 6 or more staff members
Must be a highly effective communicator
Strong desire and concern to lead and empower others, setting goals, communicating vision and direction and creating a shared understanding
Ability to react quickly and work with others to collaboratively tackle problems Skill in building teams of star performers and retaining top notch talent
