Teradyne Software Engineering Manager in North Reading, Massachusetts

Internal Core Software provides solutions for internally submitted defects affecting the IG-XL and ETS platforms. This team also supports continuous and release integration activities by triaging test failure cases to either the internal core team or another development team.

Software Engineering Manager

Teradyne is looking for a Software Engineering manager with cross-functional management skills to manage the internal core software team and work directly with managers of different projects and teams for release integration activity.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the internal core software team manages incoming issues and backlog to expectations.

  • Core software is common across multiple platforms

  • Provide forecasts and staffing plans

  • Ensure scope is managed to team charter

  • Develop, plan and execute integration plans for projects and releases

  • Manage the scope and status of the release

  • Manage build and content delivery

  • Deliver teams daily release autotest failure analysis and assessments

  • Triage, track to closure defects found during release testing

  • Ensures Release meets Quality Metrics

  • Review and implement process improvements including the continuous integration objectives

    Basic Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years of direct management, project leadership, and/or team leadership experience

  • 10+ years in software sustaining or software development.

  • Experience in the semiconductor industry.

  • Understanding of the automated test equipment industry desired

  • Strong organizational and project management skills especially ability to work cross-functionally

  • Ability to lead and motivate others, communicating vision, setting goals and objectives, monitoring metrics and progress, and empowering the team to be successful.

  • Ability to set clear direction and priorities, organize activities, and lead the team to hit project objectives.

  • Strong communication skills, ability to communicate at different levels of abstraction, and provide periodic updates to senior management and directors

  • Thorough knowledge of risk management, and failure modes and effects analysis

  • Understanding of time-to-market, cost-of-test, yield management, and relevant production concepts

  • Demonstrable ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly with an in depth understanding of Excel

  • Experience with C#/VBA, embedded, and multi-threaded programming a plus

  • Creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving engineering problems

  • Effective influencing and interpersonal skills

  • Strong commitment to product quality

  • Demonstrated experience in process development

  • Experience with Agile software development process is a plus.

  • Full product life cycle experience from concept to customer support is a plus

    Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university required

  • Master's degree in EE/CS or MBA a plus
