High level of team spirit and responsibility

As embedded software developer you will join a rapidly growing team of skilled embedded developers based at our headquarters in Odense, Denmark.

The team is responsible for developing microcontroller software for various devices in robots, within areas of power management, sensor interfacing, external IO interfacing, motor controllers, safety systems among others. Supporting tools for building, testing, and deploying firmware, giving the team end-to-end ownership of the full process, are also responsibilities of the Team.

In this role, you will develop creative and innovative software solutions to support an ever-growing number of robots. The work will vary from deep dives into specific protocols, technologies or sensors, troubleshooting customer issues, improving our automated test systems and taking responsibility of interfaces or prototyping, where both coding, architecture and design skills are put to good use. You will be closely collaborating with members of the team as well as other parts of the R&D organization when making solutions to the challenges we meet.

Your responsibilities and tasks are:

• Developing software with focus on quality, safety and maintainability

• Taking part in maintaining our automated test setup

• Collaborate with colleagues in other departments in cross-functional projects and initiatives

• Participating in architectural discussions in the team

• Helping or driving a DevOps culture where tooling and automation is in focus, to ensure scalability

• Challenging our methods, so we constantly ensure that we meet tomorrow’s requirements and possibilities

The successful candidate:

At MiR, we come in all shapes and sizes, and we cheer each other on. However, we do expect that you bring the following:

• Experience from a similar position, working with professional development of products across software and hardware

• Proven experience developing C/C++ in an embedded context

• Experience with git or similar distributed version control system

• Reading and contributing to electric schematics to assist firmware development

• Strong focus on quality, Unit Testing and debugging skills with tools like J-Link

If you also possess one or more of the below skills, you will have a head start at this position:

• Experience with functional safety design and development process

• Knowledge of CAN bus and CANopen protocol

• Experience with Li-Ion batteries and battery management systems

It is an advantage if you have work experience from another robotics company as well as experience with electronics design, however we will evaluate each candidate individually.

A typical candidate holds an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics Engineer or similar.

As a person, you are open-minded and pragmatic with an innate ability to continuously learn and develop your skills.
