We are currently seeking a Field Application Engineer - High Power Discrete to join our team at our Plano, TX field office.

As the market for high power discrete semiconductor expands, the need for high volume production test solutions is growing. To help Teradyne’s customers meet these needs, field applications engineers within the Global Services Organization work with Teradyne colleagues as well as direct customer support.

Skills utilized in the development and deployment of test solutions, both hardware design of DUT tester interface printed circuit boards and test program software, including:

  • Project leadership with customer and Teradyne colleagues

  • Discovery of customer requirements and major care-abouts

  • Conceptual design of H/W, S/W and test cell integration

  • Electrical and mechanical H/W schematics

  • PCB & H/W design inputs and requirements for interface hardware

  • Test program S/W development, often done in collaborative environment

  • H/W & S/W debug

  • Correlation and Gauge R&R

  • Release to production of the test solution involving production handler and prober equipment

  • Production support of the test solution

Field applications engineers also support the customer and Teradyne in other ways such as:

  • Develop new techniques and designs for characterizing and testing semiconductor devices

  • Demonstrate tester capability for customer evaluations

  • Assist customers with tester operation and capability

  • Provide and receive training, technical exchanges and technical papers

Position Subject to ITAR controls:


Basic Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Education Required:

  • BSEE & with 8 - 10 years experience in ATE Industry

  • Semiconductor automated testing experience with skills in project leadership

Test solution development (discovery through production release)Demonstrated knowledge with

  • Power discrete device testing techniques and concepts

  • ETS88 and ETS88TH Instruments

  • High voltage/power safety and compliance

  • High current/voltage/power design considerations

  • Test cell integration

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally typically 25% - 50%

  • Eagle MST/ C programming
