Teradyne Engineering Manager 2 in San Jose, California

Organization & Role

Nextest Systems Corporation, a Teradyne Company, engages in the design, development and production of automatic test equipment for memory manufacturers worldwide. Nextest products span DRAM, NAND and NOR Flash production and engineering requirements for both wafer and package level testing. Teradyne’s Automated Test Equipment (ATE) is used to test semiconductors, wireless products, data storage and complex electronic systems, which serve consumer, communications, industrial and government customers. Teradyne’s Industrial Automation group includes collaborative robots, autonomous mobile robots and sensing and simulation software, used by global manufacturing and industrial customers to improve quality and increase manufacturing efficiency. The Nextest engineering team is based in San Jose, CA. Teradyne’s corporate headquarters is in North Reading, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Hiring, mentoring and retention of engineering staff

  • Determining staffing levels and skills needed to satisfy all product development commitments

  • Participation as senior staff member in strategic planning

  • Ensuring products meet key requirements are on budget and schedule

  • Negotiating deliverables with key partners and customers

  • Establish and maintain a collaborative working environment across functional groups

  • Establish and maintain engineering development processes throughout the product lifecycle stages

Basic Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate will have 15-20 years of instrumentation design and development experience

  • Managerial and leadership experience, capable of developing current teams while helping to grow the engineering organization as our business continues to expand

  • Should have extensive experience working with multiple engineering disciplines including:

  • Mechanical, PCB, ASIC/FPGA, Reliability, Design Verification, Calibration, and Signal Delivery

  • Must have the capability to manage multiple development teams and projects

  • A proven history of successfully managing complex product schedules

  • Must be a strategic thinker with strong analytical and tactical skills

  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills

  • Ability to travel as required.

  • Ability to establish internal credibility with peer managers and senior engineers, as well as marketing and operations teams

  • Ability to understand operational requirements of the business and identify opportunities and solutions

Education

BS in Electrical Engineering. MSEE and/or MBA strongly desirable
